Reports emerging earlier in the day suggested that, having not been able to acquire Spanish left-back Fran Garcia during the current transfer window, Bayer 04 Leverkusen were prepared to make a late swoop for sought-after Stuttgart fullback/winger Borna Sosa. The €20-million-valued player has been heavily linked with a transfer out of Swabia this winter.

According to Sky Germany, relegation-threatened Stuttgart are sticking to their guns with respect to Sosa. An initial bid of unknown quantity has been rejected. Stuttgart are already set to sell a pivotal starter before the day is out, with Naouirou Ahamada reportedly in London completing a medical for Crystal Palace.
