Neymar has risked angering Kylian Mbappe with a post congratulating Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Lionel Messi on winning the World Cup. The Argentine and the French went head-to-head on world football’s biggest stage on Sunday, with Argentina eventually prevailing on penalties in the World Cup final. Both players played a big part in the game, with Messi scoring twice and Mbappe bagging a hat-trick. They also both successfully converted their penalties into their execution.
However, it was Messi who was celebrating at the end of the match and Neymar tweeted: “Congratulations bro”, along with a photo of Messi holding the World Cup trophy. Neymar has not posted any messages of condolence for Mbappe, which may have angered the 23-year-old even more. Neymar had aimed to get himself into the final, but Brazil were eliminated on penalties against Croatia in the quarter-finals.
Messi, Neymar and Mbappe form a formidable trio for PSG, but there has not always been a harmonious relationship between them.
