Belgium, Croatia are eliminated in the 1/8 finals in the World Championship

Croatia and Belgium have played without goals (0-0) at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al-Rayyan, in the last match of the group stage in the World Championship, ‘Qatar 2022’.

Yannick Carrasco was the first to take the risk, while the same footballer caused an alluded interference, for which the referee initially awarded a penalty to the Croatians, but after consulting the VAR, he withdrew his decision.

The teams went to the break with the nets untouched, and in the first minutes of the second half, Mateo Kovacic had a good opportunity. In the following, the Belgians tried to score through Carrasco and on two consecutive occasions that Romelu Lukaku failed to realize.

Lukaku had other chances to score, but until the referee’s final whistle, no goal was scored. With an equal result, Croatia qualifies from the second position in Group F and in the round of 16 plays against the first place in Group E. Belgium is eliminated from the World Championship.

Morocco has qualified from the first place in this group with seven points after defeating Canada in the last round.
