Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that at least one Bundesliga club is interested in acquiring the services of Swiss national team keeper Philipp Köhn.

Twenty-four-year-old RB Salzburg keeper Philipp Köhn will be heading to the World Cup with Murat Yakin’s Swiss national team. Whether or not the promising youngster will have the opportunity to showcase his skills on the grandest stage remains to be seen. Of the four keepers Yakin is carrying (Yann Sommer, Jonas Omlin, and Gregor Kobel are the others ), Köhn is the only yet to be capped at the senior level.
Irrespective of whether Köhn gets a chance to raise his profile internationally, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that his profile remains rather high in the German football. Bayer 04 Leverkusen are said to be interested in bringing the German-born net-minder, who trained at the academies of MSV Duisburg, FC Schalke 04, and VfB Stuttgart.

Köhn is reported to want very much to return to German football. He did eventually earn a professional contract with RB Leipzig, yet was sent to Salzburg before he could make an appearance for the German Red Bulls. Köhn is a native Westphalian who once represented Germany at youth level before switching allegiances to his mother’s country.

The keeper’s estimated market value – currently at €4 million in the latest transfermarkt listings – has been on the rise recently. Leverkusen may be concerned about the long term viability of captain Lukas Hradecky after the 32-year-old went through a pronounced form dip earlier this season. The supposed Bayer keeper of the future – Lennart Grill – recently had a disastrous outing for loan club Union Berlin.
