Borussia Dortmund couldn’t find a way through on goal in their defeat to Union Berlin on Sunday, as they’ve now dropped to 8th in the Bundesliga table.

BVB struggled to find any solutions speaking to the media following their Matchday 10 loss. Karim Adeyemi notably questioned Edin Terzic’s choice to start a back three of Schlotterbeck, Hummels and Süle instead of their usual back four:
“Today we played another formation, maybe that’s why it was.”

Hummels emphasized that, “Sometimes the simple 20-meter back pass is the best solution, even if it doesn’t come up on social media afterwards. It’s very important in football to know which areas are risky and which aren’t.”

Terzic added: “Sometimes there are phases in the game, it’s not about why you do things, but how often you do them. How often you are willing to do the things you don’t feel like doing so much. We have to tackle this if we want to play football successfully.”

Dortmund play Hannover in the DFB-Pokal and Stuttgart in league play this week.
