With less than a week to go before the transfer window closes, Manuel Akanji’s future remains up in the air.

Although it’s been clear for a while that Manuel Akanji has no future at Signal Iduna Park, the 27-year-old is still a Borussia Dortmund player a handful of days before the transfer window closes.
“There is nothing new to report,” Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl told Kicker and added:

“Currently, there is nothing on the table that we have to consider. I still think that there will be a bit of action in the next few days. We still have time until Thursday.

“I think by Monday or Tuesday, things will be clear. After all, going through a medical is also part of a transfer.”

The fact that the defender’s future is still up in the air is “certainly not ideal,” Kehl admits.

“Manuel is an outstanding player, who has done nothing wrong personally. However, we have pushed the planning differently because of his statements and early decision,” said Kehl about Akanji, who has been linked with Inter.

The BVB boss went on to underline that Jude Bellingham will certainly not be sold this summer.

“There have been no inquiries for him, but there is certainly a lot of interest. And honestly, I know from the player and his family that the boy has no interest at all in going anywhere this summer.”
