Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has reportedly agreed upon a salary with Inter Milan ahead of a potential loan return to Serie A this summer as the Blues issue a short deadline to the Belgian’s agent to get the deal wrapped up. football.london understands Lukaku has asked his lawyer to check the possibility of a possible return to the San Siro, less than 12 months after making the move from Milan to London.

Lukaku, 29, ended the season in the way he started the 2021/22 campaign on form. However, the unsettled nature of his club-record move last summer prompted fiery comments during the season which has put a return to Inter back on on the cards. football.london understands that the Belgium international were to hold talks with Todd Boehly and the higher-ups ahead of making his final decision. Whether or not these talks have happened or not seem to have had no impact on the striker who reportedly wants nothing to do with current manager Thomas Tuchel ‘anymore’ according to the latest Italian reports via Sport Witness.

“I think if he plans to talk with the owner, maybe it is not his plan to talk with me. It’s fair enough. Let’s see if he gets a meeting! It is his right. We will talk to anybody,” Tuchel said on Lukaku ahead of the FA Cup final.“We will evaluate any situation of any player, including Romelu. We will see what is going to happen and what the plans are.”

With the wheels in motion now on an early departure for Didier Drogba’s supposed long-term heir which has been alluded to by his change in agent from Federico Pastorello to an independent lawyer from the Italian firm P&P agency, Todd Boehly and co need to make a move on with recruiting a potential replacement amid strong links to Lautaro Martinez and Robert Lewandowski.

Regardless of who is recruited to try and break the long-standing number 9 curse that has haunted many strikers in the past, Boehly and the Chelsea board have seemingly made their stance clear on what Inter Milan must do imminently to seal a deal for the Belgian.

As well as agreeing to a £6.3million salary with the Nerazzurri which would mean a £3.9m reduction in what Lukaku has been earning at Chelsea this season (£10.2m), his new agents have been given an ultimatum of 15 days to close this transfer operation as the Blues look for a swift solution to this issue.

Getting this expensive loan deal done early on is imperative to the current World Champions who will need all the time possible when the window opens officially on June 10 to find the best replacement possible as Boehly’s to-do list seems gigantic with the defence the first area of priority before midfield and forwards enter the equation.
