Antonio Conte has admitted that a stomach bug virus worked its around around the Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of Sunday’s match against Burnley.
In shades of Spurs’ infamous Lasagnegate match when they lost at West Ham United after a sickness bug swept through the camp, Tottenham had a quartet of players who were suffering in the wake of the north London derby victory against Arsenal. The bug has ensured that Dejan Kulusevski is only fit for a place on the bench for the match against the Clarets.
“Only yesterday to prepare for the game but this is the schedule and we have to play,” Conte told BT Sport ahead of the game. “Honestly there was a problem because yesterday Kulusevski didn’t do the training session, he was sick with a stomach problem. He was not the only player to have this, maybe a virus came around into the team.

“Yesterday four players but it is ok. Kulusevski didn’t have the training session, we have Lucas Moura. That is good and he came off the bench and I hope he is ready to come in.”
Conte is expecting a battle against Burnley as Spurs look to keep the pressure on Arsenal by jumping back into fourth place in the Premier League for 24 hours at least.
“When you play against [Burnley] you know you have to fight, to try to play football but at the same time you have to go on the same level and win the duels,” he said. “I have seen the formation. They’re coming here to defend. We have to be ready to play well.”
