Among all the interested parties, it appears as if Berlin’s Köpenick quarter club have emerged as the winners in landing SpVgg Greuther Fürth striker Jamie Leweling. Two reliable German media sources now report that the 21-year-old will sign a four-year-contract with 1. FC Union Berlin.

The transfer fee paid to the Middle Franconian club is said to be around €4 million, which would make Leweling the second most expensive transfer in the history of the FCU. It has widely been corroborated that die Eisernen shelled out some €7.5 million for the purchase of Taiwo Awoniyi last summer.

With Awoniyi likely to depart the the club this summer, Union have once again proved themselves proactive in securing a replacement. With his performances for both club and country this year, Leweling has increased his estimated market worth to some €4.5 million.

Leweling has scored five goals and chipped in two assists this season.
