Manchester City’s announcement regarding an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Erling Haaland this summer has prompted a transfer theory amongst some Arsenal supporters.
The Gunners are expected to bolster their attacking options with a striker or two ahead of the 2022/23 season and football.london have previously revealed the club’s interest in Gabriel Jesus as well as them being expected to lodge an opening offer in the region of £35m.
Furthermore, it’s understood that Manchester City and Brazil forward is open to leaving the current Premier League champions this summer with his representative holding talks with Arsenal technical director Edu over the past few months.

And it would appear that City already have the 25-year-old’s replacement lined up as the big breaking news on Tuesday afternoon is that they are closing in on the signing of Haaland – who is regarded as one of Europe’s finest strikers despite only being in his early 20’s.
A statement via the club’s official website reads: “Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022. The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.”
Now, this transfer announcement has left many Arsenal fans on social media convinced that Haaland to Man City means that Jesus’ exit from the Etihad Stadium is all but confirmed and his next move will be to join compatriots Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli at the Emirates Stadium.
Take a look at what’s been said on Twitter…
@naufalpry said: “Welcome to @Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus”, @ploiper said: “Haaland going to man city just opens the door even more for Jesus to leave and come to Arsenal”, @godschildbukayo said: “Now that City has announced Haaland, here we go Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal?” and @Alexmbeka said: “With Haaland joining City, then Gabriel Jesus is on his way to @Arsenal.”
It remains to be seen how Haaland’s move to Man City will impact Jesus and if it will open the door for Mikel Arteta to raid his former club, but if Arsenal can get a deal done it could go someways to bridging the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s very best.
