Brentford player ratings as Eriksen and Toney shine against Southampton

David Raya

Rarely troubled but had to keep out the Saints on occasion. 7

Kristoffer Ajer

A superb all-round performance, and was rewarded with his first goal for the Bees. 8

Pontus Jansson

A deft touch to give Brentford the lead early on, and a clean sheet would have been the icing on the cake. 8

Mads Bech

Looked occasionally shaky at times but dealt with Adam Armstrong and didn’t give the striker much of a sniff. 7

Rico Henry

Defensively solid and kept Kyle Walker-Peters quiet. A better response from last week. 8

Christian Eriksen

Was colossus in midfield as he has been since his arrival. Made Wissa’s goal despite being crunched by Southampton players. 8

Christian Norgaard

Made crucial tackles to set Brentford going. Another great display. 8

Mathias Jensen

An improved display and was a positive presence. 7

Bryan Mbeumo

Not much luck in front of goal, but another hard-working display from the forward. 7

Ivan Toney

Crucial in the opening goal and made himself a nuisance for the Southampton defence. 8

Yoane Wissa

A slick finish to double Brentford’s advantage barely a minute after Jansson’s opener. 7

Shandon Baptiste

Much needed minutes after a long time without game time. 5

A special moment for the 19-year-old to make his senior debut! Was shoved to the floor immediately upon his arrival – a sign of life in the PL. 5
