The news of Mino Raiola’s death has shocked the football world. One of the strongest and most important agents of modern football, passed away at the age of 54 at his home in Monte Carlo as a result of a serious illness. The Italian from Salerno kept the lung disease hidden, as his health did not improve even after the surgery he performed some time ago.

Mino Raiola was the agent of names like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Erling Haaland, Gigio Donnarumma, Matthijs De Ligt, Mario Balotelli, to name a few. From waiter to his father’s bar in the Netherlands, where he transferred with his family when he was just 1 year old, to the king of the market. Raiola became famous for his ability to perform important market operations.

Mino built an original image, as he liked to be controversial and full of statements that created noise, controversy or hatred, as in the case of Donnarumma’s departure from Milan to PSG. He did not care about clubs, history or fans at all, while his pocket did. For him, it was important that the player he represented felt happy and won as many contracts as possible. Mino managed to create an empire consisting of pharaonic negotiations for the transfer market. In 2019 alone he managed to earn 63 million euros from transfer commissions!

Mino was only 20 years old when he started the profession of footballer agent. Raiola was the one who transferred Pavel Nedved from Lazio to Juventus for the sum of 45 million euros in 2001. He then participated in all the agreements and changes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s teams, with whom he had a special relationship. He made a fantastic bargain in 2009, when Barcelona paid 60 million euros and Samuel Eto’o’s card to secure Ibra from Inter.

Then the return of Paul Pogba to Manchester United in 2016. The “Red Devils” spent 105 million euros at Juventus to bring the French midfielder back to the island. Another important operation was the transfer of De Ligt from Ajax to Juventus in the summer of 2019, with the Italian whites paying 85 million euros for the Dutch defender’s card. This summer there were plans for names like Haaland or Pogba.
