Arsenal are set to hold talks with winger Nicolas Pepe at the end of the season with the record signing’s future hanging in the balance ahead of a summer overhaul. Pepe has struggled for minutes as the Gunners chase down a place in next season’s Champions League and could fall further down the pecking order.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are plotting a significant upgrade in the attacking department. While Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe have all impressed, there is little depth beyond the quartet and striking options are at a premium too.
Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have all impressed in patches this season but as things stand, both forwards will leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season. A number of attackers have been linked with moves to the Emirates including Gabriel Jesus, Tammy Abraham and Marcus Rashford.

This season has seen Pepe make just 17 Premier League appearances and score just one goal. He has also not started a top-flight game since the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace back in October and while on international duty with Ivory Coast in March, he expressed his frustration at a lack of game time.
“It is frustrating not to play,” the 26-year-old said. “No player enjoys not playing but I have to respect the coach’s decision. When a team is winning it is hard for a coach to make changes. Mikel (Arteta) has explained that and I know I have to work hard in training to get more playing time. The coach knows what I think and how hard I am working.”
The Evening Standard have now reported that Arteta will meet with Pepe at the end of the season to discuss his future. At the time of the talks, he will still have two years remaining on his deal at the Emirates but with reinforcements likely on their way, the winger could feel he would be best off elsewhere.
