Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt is determined to work his way back into the German national team.

Brandt hasn’t played for Germany since November 2020, and the 25-year-old admits his omission from the squad has been a tough pill to swallow.

Nevertheless, he is adamant in his desire to return to the fold.

“I don’t think my time in the national team is over yet. It was an annoying setback, but I won’t let that drag me down,” said Brandt and added:

“The year I wasn’t there wasn’t nice. It’s a change, and you have to swallow that first.

“I have to fight my way back. You have to give everything during the international games because so many young players are coming up. It’s unbelievable.”

Brandt has been a regular starter for Dortmund this season, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in 24 games this season.
