Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we’ve definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it’s not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

The Blues look set to lose another Cobham graduate as Sevilla hand Chelsea a major boost in the race for Jules Kounde.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele’s future has been a huge talking point throughout the January transfer window and there are further developments in Chelsea’s reported interest in the Barcelona star.

Southampton to launch Broja bid

Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea are set to receive a £25m bid from Southampton for Armando Broja as the Saints look to secure a permanent deal for the youngster before the January transfer window closes.

The 20-year-old striker has taken the Premier League by storm this season, scoring five goals for the south coast side despite making just 10 starts so far.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has made no secret of his desire to keep Broja at St Mary’s and believes he could be central to his plans moving forward.

“We will find the right conversation with the player, the agents, the club. What they want, what Chelsea want,” Hasenhuttl said of the striker’s future following the 4-1 win over Brentford recently, a game in which Broja bagged the third of the evening.

“I think we should let the young lad develop his game because this is the most important thing for him to play games.

Broja has been in great form since his loan switch

“He likes it here, he enjoys it here, we have a young team and these are all reasons why he develops his game and is getting better.

“In the end we need to make the best decision for the player, when it’s a win, win, win for everybody, then we will find the right decision for the summer. As long as he is our player, we will have as much fun with him and make him better.”

Our view: Under no circumstances should Chelsea sell Broja this month or in the summer.

The Cobham graduate has a really good chance of breaking into the first team over the coming years and giving Romelu Lukaku some healthy competition for a place in the side could be just what the misfiring Belgian striker needs.

Kounde pursuit takes a turn

Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Kounde following Sevilla’s latest January transfer decision.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Spanish side have decided against the sale of Diego Carlos amid interest from Newcastle United.

Carlos, who is valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt, and Kounde have laid the foundations for Sevilla to challenge for the La Liga title this season.

Kounde was linked with Chelsea over the summer and the Blues were understood to have agreed a deal worth around £43m, but the subsequent sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham saw Sevilla’s sporting director, Monchi, increase their asking price (as per The Athletic).

Our view: This is a major boost for Chelsea. Should the Blues look to revisit a deal for Kounde then their cause will definitely be helped if Carlos remains in Spain.

Of course, Chelsea’s interest in Kounde could well depend on whether they manage to agree new deals for the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, but it can’t help to have options.

Dembele rumours persist

The Mirror report that Dembele’s agent has arrived in London to begin “crucial talks” over his client’s next move.

The 24-year-old’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, making him eligible to pen a contractual agreement ahead of free summer transfer.

The France international worked closely with Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and it could be that the Chelsea boss believes he can be the man to reignite Dembele’s career.

Our view: Dembele’s injury record is always going to make his signing a risky one but if Chelsea can get the best out of him then this could be a brilliant move.

The Barcelona man is undoubtedly a superb player, but Tuchel will need to assess whether he can afford to sign another wide forward with niggling injury issues.
