Christensen close to transfer ‘agreement’ as Chelsea make major Theo Hernandez decision

The January transfer window opens for business on New Year’s Day and Chelsea will certainly be keen to get their winter business up and running sooner rather than later.

The Blues have already been linked to a number of players throughout Europe as they attempt to recover their somewhat stuttering Premier League title challenge.

Whilst there could be some arrivals at Stamford Bridge in January, there are also a couple of exits potentially on the cards.

With that all being said, takes a look at the latest transfer rumours circling around the gossip columns before the market gets underway once again.

Andreas Christensen

After reports suggested that Barcelona had reached an agreement for Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, the Catalan giants might be set to secure another defender in the form of Andreas Christensen.

The Danish international sees his contract at Stamford Bridge expire come the end of the campaign, and will soon be able to negotiate a free transfer to a foreign club come January.

According to Sport, Barcelona are expected to strike an agreement with Christensen ‘soon’ with him having ‘no intention’ to extend his stay in west London as it stands.

Theo Hernandez

El Nacional

Whilst Christensen could be on the way out of Stamford Bridge, one man who could be set to arrive is Theo Hernandez.

The AC Milan left-back has been spoken off as a potential replacement for the injured Ben Chilwell and according to El Nacional, the Blues have decided how much they would be willing to fork out to secure his services.

As per the reports, Chelsea are willing to pay €45m (£37m) in January.

Lucas Digne

On the topic of French left-backs who could well bolster Chelsea’s defensive options, another who is apparently on the list is Lucas Digne, with the former Barcelona man having fallen out of favour at Everton.

It has already been reported that Chelsea could potentially explore the feasibility of a loan deal for the 28-year-old but their hopes could be scuppered by Newcastle United.

According to ESPN, the Magpies would be willing to negotiate a permanent deal for the defender, which may be more attractive to Digne’s current employers.
