Tottenham press conference live: Antonio Conte on attacking struggles, VAR and Southampton draw

Antonio Conte is speaking to the media following the 1-1 against a 10-man Southampton side at St Mary’s in the Premier League on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spurs boss made just three changes to his team following the win against Crystal Palace just 46 hours beforehand, with Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Ben Davies all coming into the side.

James Ward-Prowse’s powerful, sliced half-volley deservedly put Southampton into the lead.

Tottenham stuttered and stumbled before benefitting from Saints’ indiscipline just before the break.

Mohammed Salisu had already picked up a yellow card for a foul on Emerson Royal when he launched into mistimed challenge on Son Heung-min as he ran into the box on to Winks’ pass.

Salisu received his second yellow card and Harry Kane made no mistake in sending Fraser Forster the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Kane had a second effort ruled out by VAR early in the second half for what must have been a marginal offside with the images appearing to show him in line with the last defender.

Tottenham huffed and puffed but could not find a way through as the 10 men of Southampton held on comfortably.

Our Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold is among those putting the questions to Conte following the match.
