Martin Odegaard vindicates Mikel Arteta and Edu’s laughable £130m Arsenal transfer plan – Bailey Keogh

Martin Odegaard has been exceptional for Arsenal so far this season, which has proved to be a masterstroke by Edu, as he saved £100m which could have seen worse results.

Arsenal signed Odegaard in the summer transfer window to solve the creativity issues that was looming over Mikel Arteta’s team.

But before the acquisition of the Norwegian, the Gunners had been linked to Jack Grealish and Emiliano Buendia who also left their clubs to join a new team at the start of the season.

However, Arsenal’s signature of Odegaard seems to be the perfect choice, as the midfielder has recorded more assists than Grealish and Buendia combined so far this season.

Odegaard has had an exceptional month which has seen him create more chances (17), more big chances (4), and played more through balls (8) than any other player in the Premier League so far in December according to Squawka.

The midfielder also has three goals and three assists this month which is the highest goal contribution in the league compared to any other player.

It isn’t just the Premier League where he has been dominating the statistics, but also amongst the top five leagues in Europe, as he is ranked as one of the most creative players under the age of 23 this season with only five players ranking higher for key chances per 90 minutes than Odegaard.

The Arsenal midfielder had been subjected to a lot of criticism this campaign and had been scapegoated for some of the team’s poor performances this season, which was certainly unjustified, as sometimes the system did not match the strengths of the Norweigan.
