Freddie Ljungberg’s three-year prediction rings true as Arsenal learn £101m transfer valuation

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is worth around £101million, according to a recent study.

The England international has been a shining light for the Gunners over the last two years, consistently impressing since coming through the club’s esteemed Hale End academy.

Saka won the club’s player of the year award for the 2020/21 campaign and has continued to impress in recent weeks, notching five goals and four assists so far this term.

Now, a study conducted by CIES Footballing Observatory has valued the 20-year-old at €90million-120million (£76million-£101million), a sum that many Arsenal supporters would still be unwilling to take for their star man.

The talented winger’s rise to prominence was clear for many to see but Gunners legend Freddie Ljungberg was perhaps the most vocal of Saka’s talent during his time with the Under-23s side.

“Bukayo is a great talent and played very, very well today,” Ljungberg said back in September 2018.

“We’ve given him 15 minutes here and 20 minutes there to help him get used to the tempo, the speed and strength of opponents, and he’s taken it in his stride. He’s just going to get better and better, keep his head down and keep on working.”

Similarly, former Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock hailed Saka as “one of the most talented players we have in the team” three years ago, before the Englishman eventually made his first-team debut during a 1-0 win against Qarabag in the Europa League back in December 2018.

The youngster will hope to continue his fine form on New Year’s Day as the Gunners host reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium.
