Arsenal have no doubt got to set their eyes on revamping their forward line with a striker. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has most likely played his last game in an Arsenal shirt.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both have their contracts run out at the end of the season.

The Arsenal Way’s presenter and writer Bailey Keogh spoke to editor Hush Kerai on Sunday evenings Arsenal Agenda show about what Edu should avoid when they’re on the search for a new forward in the next two transfer windows.

HK: “We need to make sure that the Lacazette template is recreated and we don’t just fall into buying a striker to score goals and not bring out the best in the form behind him.

“It’s clear to see that’s the way forward now. Is to invest in those young players and make sure that whoever we sign is somebody that can work for them. We can’t do what Chelsea have done for example.

“With Romelu Lukaku for example. Lukaku is a great player – no brainer. The guy who slid into Serie A glory. There wasn’t any joined-up thinking involved. Into how he would work with Timo Werner or Kai Havertz.

“It was sort of bring him in and we’ll look at that afterwards. Whereas we are absolutely in the position where we need to work it out beforehand. We cannot spend.

“Look we can’t do a Nicolas Pepe again. Those kinds of mistakes… look if we’re trying to get to where we need to be. We’ve made mistakes already they just can’t be repeated.

“Every single penny has to be well spent. You can’t afford to spend £70m on a player that we’re not going to want beyond 18 months of his career.”
