Bild reports that Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck has attracted interest from both Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund are both interested in Freiburg centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck, according to Sport Bild.

It was previously reported that Bayern weren’t keeping tabs on the 22-year-old, but that has apparently changed.

And if Bayern have indeed joined the race for Schlotterbeck, it wouldn’t come as a surprise. The young defender has arguably developed into one of the best centre-backs of the Bundesliga and received his first call-up to the German national team earlier this year.

About a month ago, the Schlotterbeck admitted he is dreaming of playing for one of Germany’s biggest clubs, telling Kicker:

“I’m not a guy who necessarily wants to play in England or Spain. I always wanted to play in the Bundesliga, and preferably at the best club.”

His contract with Freiburg expires in 2023.
