Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made a bold claim about Ousmane Dembélé amid contract negotiations.
The Blaugrana have been attempting to tie Dembélé down to a new deal over recent weeks.
The Frenchman, who has recently returned from a long-term injury, is set to see his deal expire in the summer.
If that comes to pass, the once €135million winger could leave for absolutely nothing.
But it’s not just for investment purposes that Barca don’t want to lose Dembélé, with those at the club believing the 24-year-old can still live up to his potential.
And in his latest comments on Dembélé, Barca president Laporta has claimed the winger is better than PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
“We have a very good relationship with Dembélé and he wants to stay,” he said, as cited by Marca.
“We also want him to stay because he is a great player. There are required situations in a negotiation with the representatives that they want the best for the player.
“For me, Dembélé excites me, he is better than Mbappe.”
