Thiago Silva has dropped a major hint that he could be set to start for Chelsea in their Premier League clash with Manchester United.
The Blues host United at Stamford Bridge, with the home side full of confidence having avoided defeat in the league since September.
Thomas Tuchel’s side now sit top of the table, one point above Liverpool, who have played an extra game – defeating Southampton 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, United have endured a difficult run of late, winning just one of their last seven league outings as they find themselves six points behind fifth-placed Arsenal, who they will play on Thursday night.
The Red Devils’ poor run of form saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked as head coach last weekend, with Ralf Rangnick expected to be named as their interim manager until the end of the season.
However, Michael Carrick will sit in the managerial dugout on Sunday and centre-back Silva could be in line to start against United if his social media activity is anything to go by.
Ahead of kick-off, the Brazilian posted a pre-match graphic to his Instagram story, perhaps hinting that he is likely to be named in the starting lineup against Carrick’s side.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star has started in 11 matches so far this season, making a further three appearances from the substitutes’ bench, conceding just four goals in the process.
Silva’s current deal with the club is set to expire next summer but his ability to read the game at such a high level has convinced the west Londoners to offer him a new contract, according to some reports, with 90min claiming that the 37-year-old is close to agreeing a contract extension with the club.
