As of Sunday evening, there are rumors surfacing that the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg is preparing to order spectator-less “ghost games” in an effort to contain the fourth wave of the pandemic.

Arne Braun, A spokesperson for the BaWü state regime conveyed this message to Germany’s Associated Press (Deutsche Presse Agentur) on Sunday.

A formal announcement that will force Bundesliga clubs SC Freiburg, VfB Stuttgart, and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to play before empty stands may come as soon as Monday morning.

Speaking after the first Bundesliga match of the 2021/22 campaign to be played behind closed doors, Leverkusen captain Lukas Hradecky made his feelings on the worsening situation known.

Jonathan Tah and Lukas Hradecky spoke to the DAZN microphones after a 3-1 crucial victory over RB Leipzig at the empty Red Bull Arena on Sunday evening. There was first and foremost a fine performance to commemorate. The German broadcast team also had to ask Bayer’s keeper to comment on what it felt like to once again play before empty stands in the first “ghost game” of Germany’s third Geisterspiel Era.

“It was more difficult for Leipzig,” Hradecky noted after praising his own team.

Leipzig will be without fans through December 12th after the state government of the federal state of Saxony ordered sporting events shuddered to spectators. If reports from the Deutsche Presse Agentur are to believed, three more Bundesliga clubs in Baden-Württemberg will be facing the same fate as soon as tomorrow morning.

Arne Braun, a government spokesperson for the southern state’s governing regime, noted that “rapid action action is necessary” and further claimed that “ghost games are coming for professional football.”

“Of course, playing without spectators is total crap,” Hradecky noted, “but the situation is what it is what it is. I hope we can keep people in the stadium.”

“Everyone knows what they need to do for themselves and everyone else,” the keeper/captain continued, “I would everyone to get vaccinated. That helps.”
