Arsenal supporters have spotted what Bukayo Saka did when celebrating his goal against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
The 20-year-old bagged just his second Premier League goal of the season when opening the scoring against the Magpies at the Emirates Stadium.
Some slick build-up play between Emile Smith Rowe and Nuno Tavares saw Saka through on goal and he slotted the ball calmly into the bottom right-hand corner to hand Arsenal the one-goal advantage in the second-half.
Gabriel Martinelli wrapped the match up with a delicate finish later on in the match, but it was Saka’s celebration that got some fans talking after the win.
Saka ran towards the corner with his thumb in his mouth and making the ‘M’ symbol with his other hand – just like Arsenal fans got so used to seeing Mesut Ozil do during his days at the Emirates Stadium.
Gunners supporters, when taking to Twitter after the goal, expressed their love for Saka and the Ozil celebration.
Saka, when speaking after the match, revealed what Mikel Arteta told the Arsenal side at half-time, with the Gunners going into the break goalless against a defensive Newcastle team.
He said to BT Sport: “We had to be patient. They defended really well & made it difficult for us in the first half.
“The boss told us at half-time; don’t let them frustrate us & I think we listened to that. We got the goals and we could’ve got more in the end.”
Despite Saka once again impressing for the north Londoners on Saturday, it was not all positive for the England international, who limped off the pitch in clear discomfort after suffering an injury.
Arteta addressed the injury in his post-match press conference, but the Spaniard was unable to give a clear indication of the problem Saka has.
The Arsenal boss said: “It was an action where he said he felt something.
“He was not comfortable to continue and we’ll have to assess him tomorrow and probably scan him to see if there is any injury there.”
Arteta will be desperate that Saka’s injury is not too serious, with Arsenal back in action in a few days’ time as they travel to Manchester United on Thursday evening.
However, with Martinelli impressing in his 25-minute cameo against Newcastle, then the young attacker could be a direct replacement for Saka should the winger be sidelined for the clash at Old Trafford.
