Arsenal are third on tonight’s Match of the Day show on BBC One, after they beat Newcastle United 2-0.
The Gunners kicked off the Premier League weekend with a home victory against the Magpies thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
The win for Mikel Arteta’s team means they are now level on points with West Ham United in fourth place in the Premier League table, with the Hammers in action on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal will be third on Match of the Day – that starts at 10:30pm – with Liverpool’s win against Southampton the opening game and Aston Villa’s victory against Crystal Palace in second.
Gary Lineker posted a video of him on Twitter confirming the running order, which is as follows:
Liverpool 4-0 Southampton
Crystal Palace 1-2 Aston Villa
Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle United
Brighton 0-0 Leeds United
Norwich City 0-0 Wolves
The victory for Arsenal comes a week after they were beaten 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday and Arteta insisted it was crucial for the Gunners to get back to winning ways against Newcastle.
He said: “Really important to win and bounce back as you mentioned. With a game that had different phases in the first half. We were able to take the game where we wanted, but without really threatening or hurting them enough.
“We lacked some urgency and some composure in the final third to deliver better balls and more composure in our finishing action because we didn’t hit the target enough with the attempts that we had.
“In the second half we had to be patient not to lose any structure in our play because we were controlling them quite well.
“We needed to threaten certain spaces more, I think we did, we scored two goals and after that I thought we were more in control.”
