FC Köln coach Steffen Baumgart had special praise for Salih Özcan after watching his side thrash local rivals Gladbach 4-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

“I don’t like to pick out individual players but I have to do it today. Salih Özcan put in a superb performance. As a lad from Köln, he was superb in the derby today,” Baumgart said of the midfielder.

In general, of course, Baumgart was delighted with what he saw from his players.

“I am pleased that we kept pushing forward after the equaliser and kept pressing. The boys kept working well,” he said.
