Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Friday, November 26.

Emmanuel Petit makes Kylian Mbappe claim

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has suggested that PSG’s Kylian Mbappe could one day make the move to Newcastle United despite a move to Real Madrid seeming likely.

“Anything can happen. We see what’s happening with Newcastle United – there have been rumours and you never know what’s going to happen at the end of the day. Things can turn very easily and very quickly,” Petit told The Sun.

“There is a big link with Real Madrid and I know that in his mind when he was a child he was dreaming of playing for clubs like this, because of the stars they have there and the history of the club.

“I think he’s been frustrated and tired by the situation at PSG over the past year.”

Newcastle United warning

Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium for the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday as Eddie Howe looks to claim the Magpies’ first win of the season.

The Gunners will be confident about bouncing back from Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool but Jack Wilshere has already sent his former club a warning on how Newcastle could improve under Howe.

“I worked with him at a club that I see now are quite similar to Newcastle – not in terms of the size of the club, but in terms of the players,” he told talkSPORT after Howe’s appointment at the start of November.

“Newcastle have got a few ex-Bournemouth players and that is what Eddie does, he gets the best out of those types of players, gets them going and he gets the fans on side.”

Granit Xhaka boost

Mikel Arteta delivered some good news on the fitness of midfielder Granit Xhaka during his pre-match press conference on Thursday morning.

The 29-year-old has been missing since the 3-1 win against Spurs and was expected to be sidelined until January at the earliest. But Arteta hinted that he could return over the Christmas period.

“Hopefully sooner than expected, he’s in a good place,” Arteta said. “He’s training and pushing himself and all the staff so hard like he always does and he’s in a good place. He’s evolving well and hopefully, we can have him a little bit earlier.”

When asked whether Xhaka could return for the Christmas fixtures, the Spaniard said: “I hope so, yes.”
