Emile Smith Rowe has enjoyed a stellar start to his Arsenal career.

The youngster starred during the 3-1 win against Chelsea last December and has been one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s teamsheet ever since.

Smith Rowe has continued to produce this season, providing five goals and two assists for the Gunners – who currently sit fifth in the Premier League standings.

The 21-year-old, who scored the only goal of the game against Watford on Sunday afternoon, was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Albania after Marcus Rashford and James Ward-Prowse withdrew due to injury.

Now, former Chelsea and England winger Joe Cole has hailed the Hale End academy graduate whilst also warning Arsenal supporters to manage expectations in the coming years.

“I love Smith-Rowe – I think he is different class,” Cole told Coral.

“There will now be big pressure on his shoulders because he is becoming the focal point of Arsenal’s team.

“That can be very hard to take as a youngster and is something I know about. It is much easier when you can go out and play with freedom.

“But all of a sudden now the Arsenal fans are looking at him to make the difference in games when things are going wrong and expecting more.”

Smith Rowe will hope her can make his Three Lions debut during the ongoing international break before returning to club action against Everton in two weeks time.

The Gunners then host Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United before travelling to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in what will be a must-win clash for both sides in their pursuit of a place in the top four.
