Xavi’s reign at Barcelona began today. The 41-year-old Catalan coach arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva early this morning, meeting his players before taking his first session as coach.

A hilarious skit also surfaced this morning imagining the moment Xavi met his new players. Using a clip from a show on Comedy Central, Xavi is compared to a president meeting what appears to be several of his cabinet. Each member of the cabinet is supposed to be a Barcelona player, and he reacts differently to each one.
The skit is indeed very funny, although the reports emerging from Xavi’s first day have indicated a much more serious tone. He’s instilled law and order from the jump, laying down a non-negotiable set of rules and making clear that standards need to rise across the board at the Catalan club.

Barcelona are certainly in rough shape. They sit ninth in La Liga at the time of writing, level on points with Espanyol, the city rivals that will serve as Xavi’s first opponents in charge of the blaugrana. Remarkable, Barcelona are six points from the relegation zone but eleven off league leaders Real Sociedad.
