Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will already be worried about what’s happened to N’Golo Kante’s international teammate Paul Pogba after he limped out of France training with an injury.
Kante, 30, has had a hard time of things recently after being struck down with Covid-19 which he picked up after the Man City Premier League home loss back in September.
Before the international period kicked in, manager Tuchel was trying to ease the veteran midfielder back into the thick of things after his distorted appearance against Newcastle United and he was hoping that Didier Deschamps would make the obvious decision to leave him out of the Les Bleus’ squad for the upcoming international fixtures.
However, Deschamps as we know relies heavily on the ex-Leicester man and as a result called upon the midfielder to join up with the international squad for fixtures against Kazakhstan and Finland as France aim to sign off their World Cup qualifying campaign in style, to the despair of Tuchel and co. back in England.
“We are happy on one side when our players get nominated because they are proud to play for their country and we want to have the best players that are nominated,” Tuchel stated post 1-1 Burnley draw in his press conference.
“On the other side, we would love to rest the players, of course, and give them some days off to disconnect and relax.
“With the guys who come from injuries, it feels a little bit like we take care of them, and by doing that we take into account where they play and travel. This is the case with N’Golo and Christian.
“We have prepared them over the last two weeks for us but also so they free to go to their national teams and hopefully get the minutes that elevates them to a higher level when they come back, but if they do not get injured in the matches.
“This is a constant balance and we have no control over it. So I’m always a bit frightened.”
And now the Champions League winning manager will be sweating just a little bit more after seeing the impact Deschamps’ rigorous training methods have already had on Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
In a clip from training on Monday afternoon, the Red Devils’ creative spark was filmed being escorted off the training field by Deschamps.
Therefore, Kante is more likely to start both games now during this tight international period as a result of this fresh injury blow for the current World Cup Champions.
