Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe has received his first call-up to England’s senior side.
The Gunners midfielder was surprisingly left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Albania later this month, leaving supporters bemused by the former Middlesbrough manager’s decision.
However, the youngster was included by The Three Lions boss after Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford and Southampton central-midfielder James Ward-Prowse both withdrew from the squad due to injuries.
Smith Rowe has enjoyed a productive start to the season, providing five goals and two assists across all competitions – impressive numbers when you consider he is still just 21-years-old.
The silky playmaker scored the only goal of the game against Watford on Sunday afternoon, meaning he has now found the back of the net in each of the last three Premier League games.
Upon hearing the news, Arsenal supporters took to social media to congratulate the Hale End academy graduate. Here is how a select few on Twitter reacted.
