Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been a revelation since joining over the summer.

Ramsdale was signed for a reported £24million from Sheffield United in the summer, raising eyebrows from a large section of the Gunners faithful, who thought that technical director Edu had overpaid for the young shot-stopper.

However, the 23-year-old remains unbeaten in an Arsenal shirt, winning seven and drawing two of his nine outings for Mikel Arteta’s men, who sit fifth in the current Premier League standings.

The former Bournemouth ‘keeper caught the eyes of supporters with his distribution, drawing comparisons to Manchester City’s Ederson, whilst also offering a calm presence in the air, with only three Premier League goalkeepers stopping more crosses into the box per 90 minutes this season.

Ramsdale has also produced a number of stellar saves, registering the second-best save percentage in the league so far this term.

Perhaps his most notable stop came during a 2-0 win against Leicester City last month, with the Englishman denying compatriot James Maddison’s first-half free-kick, garnering praise from Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel.

Now, Ramsdale has claimed that his impressive save resulted in fellow summer signing Ben White hilariously joking that he would punch him.

Speaking on the Tubes and Ange YouTube channel, he said: “Ben White and Gabriel and Tomiyasu or KT or Nuno [Tavares], whenever they’re playing, we actually really enjoy defending.

“I think you see when we make blocks or saves, we are all together and we are fist-bumping.

“Ben said to me in the middle of the game, ‘When you make a save, I just want to punch you in the face!’

“Me and Ben have known each other for a long time and I think because the ball got cleared and no one sort of came and celebrated I was just like calm down a little bit.”
