Chelsea ‘keeper Edouard Mendy has earned a big upgrade to his stats and rating in FIFA 22 after becoming one of Chelsea’s most important players so far this season.
Mendy has started the season in unbelievable form with Chelsea in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, with the Senegal international putting in many man-of-the-match performances in Chelsea’s journey to the top of the Premier League this season.
The ‘keeper has already kept nine clean sheets in all competitions so far this season – making lots of pivotal saves along the way and helping Thomas Tuchel’s side maintain the strongest defence in England, with the Blues only conceding three goals in the league so far.
In response to the high-quality performances he’s produced so far this season, EA Sports have handed Mendy a collection of upgrades to his in-game stats and overall rating, with many people believing that the ‘keeper should’ve been higher rated in the game to begin with.
The latest FIFA 22 squad update was released on Friday, October 29, 2021, with fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all receiving big changes based on their seasons so far.
The squad update is available to download now on all platforms including PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
So, what stats did Edouard Mendy receive upgrades in? And what other Chelsea players were updated? Let’s take a look.
Edouard Mendy upgrades in FIFA 22
After influential performances in games against Brentford, Aston Villa and Liverpool, Mendy has not only earned upgrades to his individual stats, but his overall and potential rating also increased, making him the joint-fifth highest rated ‘keeper in the Premier League on FIFA 22.
84 rated still seems too low for Mendy considering he is arguably the best goalkeeper in world football at this current time, but EA upgrading his potential (84-85) hints another upgrade could be expected in the near future.
The ‘keeper’s short passing (39-40), reactions (80-83), vision (44-50), gk diving (83-84), gk kicking (78-79), gk positioning (81-84), gk reflexes (84-85) and composure (57-58) all increased as well as his rating.
Mendy’s upgrade in his reflexes to 85 overall takes him above the likes of Bernd Leno and Nick Pope (84) and makes him the third-highest rated ‘keeper in the gk reflexes category, with Kasper Schmeichel (90) and Hugo Lloris (89) only higher.
The only other Chelsea player who received a rating change was Trevor Chalobah, with the young defender seeing his rating increase from 73 to 74, whilst Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Ruben Loftus-Cheek also received small upgrades in their stats, with the two full-backs seeing increases in their shooting stats.
