A new dawn at Tottenham Hotspur starts on Thursday, with new boss Antonio Conte set to take charge of his first game against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League.

At this moment in time, it is unclear what injury the young playmaker has sustained, but some suggestions on social media have alluded to a hamstring problem.

What Espirito Santo said: “He’s on ice and he is being assessed. There’s not much more so let’s wait to the proper assessment.”

Doherty was taken off at half-time in the Republic of Ireland’s comfortable win against Qatar in the last international break, and didn’t make the squad against Newcastle or West Ham.

However, he was an unused substitute during Saturday’s defeat to Manchester United and is expected to be in contention to feature against Vitesse Arnhem.
