Alexandre Lacazette, Andrea Belotti – Arsenal transfer rumours ahead of January window

The January transfer window is almost upon us and for Arsenal, the rumours continue to flood in.

The Gunners had a very busy summer in terms of incomings, with six new signings arriving at the Emirates Stadium and nearly £150million being spent in the process.

Arsenal’s recent form has been very impressive, but in order to continue their progress under Mikel Arteta, there may need to be a few new reinforcements.

With that being said, takes a close look at the latest transfer rumours and stories regarding Arsenal.

Lacazette replacement identified

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal have identified Genk forward Paul Onuachu as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette sees his contract with the Gunners expire at the end of the season and should he leave next summer, then it would be on a free transfer.

So, Arsenal could look to offload the French striker in January as they seek funds for the 30-year-old forward.

Now, reports from Italy state that the Gunners have ‘already arrived’ for the signature of Onuachu, but his contract at Genk is not due to expire until the summer of 2024 – putting the Belgian club in a strong position regarding his deal.

Barca chase Aubameyang signing

According to Spanish news outlet El Nacional, Barcelona are determined to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following the recent news that Sergio Aguero will be absent for a while.

The Arsenal captain has less than two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium and has been linked with a move to Barca before.

The report claims that Barca president Joan Laporta is personally driving the club’s bid to sign a new centre-forward in January, with Aubameyang and Edinson Cavani said to be the priorities.

Arsenal dealt Belotti blow

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Torino forward Andrea Belotti, but the Italian wants to move to AC Milan, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Belotti is likely to depart Turin in the summer, with the 27-year-old seeing his contract expire at the end of the season.

As mentioned above, the Gunners could lose Lacazette in the summer and Eddie Nketiah is in the same situation, with the striker’s contract due to expire at the end of the season.

However, Belotti may not be the man Arsenal turn to, with the Italian said to be keen on staying in his home country and moving to AC Milan, who have also been credited with an interest in his services.
