Mikel Arteta will be hoping to extend Arsenal’s unbeaten run in the Premier League when Crystal Palace visit the Emirates on Monday night.
The Gunners won three games on the bounce before the international break before drawing 0-0 with Brighton, claiming victories against Norwich, Burnley and Tottenham.
However it was a Chelsea player’s name on the lips of many Arsenal fans following Saturday as Edouard Mendy put in an immense display as the Blues beat Brentford.
Ben Chilwell’s first-half strike secured the three points but a string of excellent saves from the Senegal international undoubtedly helped, making six stops throughout the 90 minutes.
Mendy was excellent as Chelsea won their second Champions League title last season but it was not enough to earn him a nomination for the biggest prize.
Chelsea had five players nominated for the the Ballon d’Or earlier this month but there were plenty of raised eyebrows at Mendy being omitted from the list.
“It’s unacceptable, I don’t understand,” Liverpool’s Sadio Mane declared in an interview with Onze Mondial.
“Edou is a very positive person, we talked about it together and he will continue to fight to be part of it. For me, he has a place among these 30 players.”
It is an opinion shared by many Chelsea fans and, seemingly a fair few Arsenal ones as well.
Here is the best of their reaction to the shot-stopper’s performance against the Bees.
