Thiago Silva reaches Brazil legend status as he reaches a new milestone in his career

Thiago Silva joins some of our Chelsea legends in joining the 100 international caps club. Along with the likes of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, Eden Hazard, Petr Cech, and Ashley Cole are just some of the names that have been able to hit such an incredible milestone.

Silva has only been with Chelsea for just over one calendar year, however, it has felt like a lifetime for Chelsea faithfuls. We are truly blessed to be able to share such a celebration with him in Chelsea blue. The Brazilian was able to reach this landmark after being substituted on during Brazil’s recent World Cup Qualifier draw against Colombia.

It has been 13 years since Silva made his debut for Brazil in the 2008 Olympics. The now 37-year-old has since represented his country in the London 2021 Olympics, three World Cup competitions as well as three Copa America tournaments.

The relationship between Chelsea fans and the Silva family has been nothing short of a romantic tale. Thiago and his wife Isabelle and their two sons have found themselves as Chelsea’s poster family. The frequent insights into their livelihoods via Instagram has created a special connection between the family and fans. The couple and their son Iago Silva continue to open videos and take pictures expressing their support for Chelsea.

Silva as mentioned before joined a host of Chelsea and football legends to make it to 100 caps. The most capped Chelsea player is Petr Cech who collected 124. Frank Lampard made 106 international appearances, Branislav Ivanovic and Didier Drogba one less with 105. Eden Hazard has now gone over 100 caps for Belgium. Marcel Desailly, Fernando Torres, Ashley Cole, Mark Schwarzer, Samuel Eto’o, Yossi Benayoun, Didier Deschamps, Andriy Shevchenko, Cesc Fabregas, Damien Duff and Geremi all over 100 caps for their nations so he isn’t in bad company.
