Spurs linked with Euro 2020 winner on free transfer during summer window

Tottenham are eyeing a deal for Italy international Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer, according to Calciomercato.

The 30-year-old winger is out of contract with his current club Napoli next summer with discussions over a new deal drawing out.

It is believed that Spurs ’ Director of Football Fabio Paratici has been monitoring Insigne as another potential Serie A incoming.

Since joining from Juventus, Paratici has already added a couple from the Italian league to the Tottenham dressing room, most notably Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini on loan from Atalanta.

Napoli captain Insigne has spent his whole career at the club, making his way through the ranks and earning the skipper’s armband along the way. He has made over 400 competitive appearances for the club, scoring over 100 goals and with 88 assists to his name, too.

His slight playing style, often cutting inside from the left, has made him a tricky customer for defenders to deal with.

This was on display at Euro 2020 in the summer, where he scored twice in six appearances and helped Italy to defeat England on penalties in the final to win the tournament.

For the renewal at the club though, the report states that Napoli wants to offer no more than €3.5million-a-season (£3million). However, the talisman is understood to want more than that.

Inter Milan are another side alongside Spurs who are said to be monitoring any potential deal for the winger.

The signing of Insigne could add another string to Tottenham’s attacking bow of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil.
