Jack Wilshere has hailed Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino’s potential.
Patino is thought to be one of the most talented players to come out of the esteemed Hale End academy in recent years, with academy director Per Mertesacker singling out the 17-year-old as one of the most talented youngsters at the club.
The silky playmaker is yet to make his first-team debut but his potential is sky-high and football.london understands that he is likely to sign a new contract with the club once he turns 18 later this month.
Gunners scout Sean O’Connor previously claimed that Patino was the biggest talent he had ever seen – high praise indeed, considering O’Connor reportedly ‘discovered’ Wilshere, who has now heaped praise on the youngster himself.
“I know him. I’ve seen him play and he’s a good player,” Wilshere told the PA news agency when asked about Patino
“He’s obviously really young still and got a lot of developing to do but he’s definitely one who everyone at the training ground is talking about.
“The first-team players know who he is and he is a good player and one for the future for sure.”

When asked about the similarities between himself and Patino, he said: “Yes, there are some similarities.
“There are quite a few but he is a different player as well and I think it is important people see him for who he is rather than say: ‘oh he is the next Jack Wilshere’.
“He has certainly got some qualities I didn’t have and there are things he needs to work on but he is going to make a name for himself in the future.”
