Chelsea supporters absolutely love Olivier Giroud’s recent comments about leaving Arsenal and the Blues.
The 35-year-old striker, who now plays his football at AC Milan, left Chelsea over the summer transfer window to join the Italian club for just £1million.
Giroud made the move to the Blues in 2018 from Arsenal, in what was something of a shock transfer considering the fierce rivalry between the two London clubs.
The Frenchman went on to win an FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge, in comparison to his three FA Cup trophies when at the Emirates Stadium.
Recently, the France international was asked about his respective tenures in west and north London and he compared how he felt when leaving both clubs.
“[I spent] three seasons-and-a-half there [at Chelsea]. I had an amazing time at Arsenal but [at Chelsea] I can say even more because I won the big titles,” Giroud told talkSPORT.
“It was emotionally difficult to leave when I left Montpellier and Arsenal, but even more tough [at Chelsea] because I did not play the last three months so it was evidence for me to leave and go for another challenge.
“I felt frustrated a little bit to not play the last three months because I contributed well to the Champions League success by finishing top scorer for the team.
“But what can I say? We were so successful and I am so pleased with the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League. I scored a few important goals.
“It was tough to leave Chelsea and the Premier League but at the end of the day I think it was the best solution for me.”
Chelsea supporters, when taking to Reddit, expressed their love for Giroud and his comments, and also poked fun at Arsenal fans.
When speaking about his exit from Chelsea last month, Giroud said the decision was an “obvious choice”.
He told French news outlet Telefoot: “I liked the Premier League, but at some point, I had to make a decision.
“I told (Thomas) Tuchel that the last three months had been too difficult. It was an obvious choice to leave Chelsea, I moved on with great emotion for all the moments we experienced.
“Some were good, some others not so much, but we won three important titles.”
