Arsenal could welcome the signing of their next Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta prepares for the sale of Alexandre Lacazette in January.
Spanish outlet La Razon has reported that the Gunners are assembling a swap deal with Sevilla for Youssef En-Nesyri, who has been tipped to emulate the Chilean’s success at the Emirates.
The reports claims that the Spanish side are interested in Lacazette and Arsenal are willing to use the Frenchman as a bargaining tool to win the 24-year-old striker’s signature.
En-Nesyri, who was linked to West Ham over the summer by various reports, scored 18 goals across 38 La Liga appearances last season and has been likened to Sanchez for their similar profiles, qualities and mentality.
Lacazette’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and football.london understands that the 30-year-old has no intention of extending his stay at London Colney, so Arsenal may be forced into welcoming their next Sanchez sooner rather than later.
Bailey Keogh, Chris Davison and Umar Choudhry spoke live on The Arsenal Way YouTube channel to discuss the potential signing of En-Nesyri and how the Moroccan could emulate the massive void left by Sanchez.
Choudhry kickstarted the discussion by outlining that En-Nesyri, who is is valued at £36 million by Transfermarkt, is the pedigree of player Arsenal should be signing.
“En-Nesyri is the type of signing Arsenal should be going for,” he began. “He’s young, prolific and he’s done it week in week out for Sevilla. He is going from strength to strength and we need that type of player with that mentality.
“He can be that signing who will score goals and work from the front – similar to how Sanchez was, harrying from the front. En-Nesyri could have that same impact.”Youssef En-Nesyri is reportedly an Arsenal target to replace Alexandre Lacazette.
Choudhry continued by detailing exactly what he wants from Arsenal’s next striker and how En-Nesyri can fit that mould despite not being the first name on fans’ transfer lists.
“What we want from a striker first of all is for them to score goals but we also want the other part of his game too,” he said.
“The hold up play and movement. Someone that is a real nuisance for defenders and En-Nesyri can do that. He’s quick, strong and the type of player Arsenal should be going for.
“I think En-Nesyri has gone under the radar with fans as a target. I like him, I think he’s a good striker.”
