Chelsea’s representatives were in top form on Monday night as Germany brushed North Macedonia to one side to secure their place at the 2022 World Cup.
Kai Havertz scored the crucial opening goal in the second half, tapping home following some good work from Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller, before Timo Werner scored a wonderful brace.
Jamal Musiala made the win safe but the damage was already done by the Chelsea contingent, with Werner in particularly catching the eye.
Since moving to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020, Werner has received plenty of stick for his wastefulness in front of goal.
But with three goals in last two games for club and country, it appears that the German may well be hitting form at just the right time for Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel.
He scored the winner against Southampton to send the Blues top of the Premier League table ahead of the international break and they will be looking to cement that position against Brentford on Saturday.
Last season saw Werner find the net 12 times and assist 15 further goals for his team-mates, and while the 25-year-old continues to split opinion, there are a large number of fans who still want to see him succeed in west London.
Here is the best of the reaction to his display…
