‘Advantage Brentford’ – Chelsea fans all say the same thing after pre-match revelation

Chelsea return to Premier League action this weekend when Thomas Tuchel takes his troops on the short journey to face Brentford for a west London derby.

The Bees are flying high following their promotion to the top-flight, currently sat in seventh place with seven matches played, having already taken points from Liverpool and Arsenal.

The Blues currently sit top of the table, however. A 3-1 win against Southampton prior to the international break returned the European champions to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Juventus.

However, the Stamford Bridge faithful were not in a jolly mood on Monday when it was revealed that Anthony Taylor would be in charge of this weekend’s clash.

Chelsea have won just two of the last 11 matches played with Taylor as referee. Most recently he controversially sent Reece James off against Liverpool for handling the ball on the goal-line.

Five penalties have also been given against Chelsea in those 11 matches, while just two have come the way of the Blues.

The track-record even led to supporters creating a petition with the hope of stopping Taylor from refereeing Chelsea games in the future, one that stands with over 80,000 signatures. Marcos Alonso even appeared to endorse it on social media.

Unsurprisingly, the latest news that Taylor would take charge of another game did not go down well on social media.

@AnthonyPenny10 said: “Maybe start Kepa for when Brentford get their inevitable penalty.”

@MoneyMase24 said: “3 points for Brentford. Predicting a red card to Chelsea.”

@AudzaMash said: “I was having a good day until I came across this tweet.”
