Reported Chelsea transfer target Christopher Nkunku has previously blasted Thomas Tuchel for the German’s role in his exit from Paris Saint-Germain.

The French midfielder has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over recent days, with Foot Mercato suggesting that both the Blues and Manchester City are interested in his services.

It is also reported that Spanish giants Real Madrid are monitoring developments, with the 23-year-old having begun the season in exhilarating form.

The three-time Ligue 1 winner has netted nine goals in just 10 outings across all competitions including a hat-trick against Manchester City in a 6-3 loss for current employers Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium last month.

The 2021/22 campaign is already Nkunku’s most prolific in his early career so it is no surprise that he has courted a few admiring glances.

However, he may not be so keen on a move to Stamford Bridge having previously labelled Chelsea boss Tuchel as a prime reason for his exit from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2019.

Talking to Canal Plus, the Frenchman said: “The arrival of Tuchel made me think.

“The fact of starting a season without really knowing what role you are going to have, it’s quite complicated. There comes a time when you come to the end of your contract and you have one year left, either you extend or you leave, I made the choice to simply leave.”

Nkunku’s decision to depart the Parc des Princes has certainly paid off as he has scored 21 goals and provided 30 assists in 94 appearances for Leipzig since making the move to Germany.

He has just under three years left to run on his current contract with the Bundesliga side having originally signed for Leipzig for a fee of just over £11million two seasons ago.
