Chelsea Injury News ahead of Southampton match.

The Blues will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today as they face Southampton, however, Tuchel’s job hasn’t been easy due to the injuries of some key players.

Here is Chelsea injury update of Mason Mount, Reece James and N’Golo Kante

N’Golo Kante

The absence of Kante can be detrimental for any team, the french midfielder tested positive for Covid-19 before the Champions League against Juventus.

When asked about Kante here’s what Tuchel had to say:

“N’Golo has symptoms but not a lot of symptoms, so he’s okay,”

“I don’t want to go into more details. He’s okay. He’s doing well.

“He was concerned about it [in the past], and he did everything not to get it. Unfortunately, he tested positive but we care about him as we care about every player. We’re in touch with him every single day. The doctors are in touch with him and he has our advice and our support, and he is in a good way.”

Reece James

The right-back suffered an ankle injury during the 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

He was also called up for the international games this October, and here’s what Tuchel has to say:

“When I saw it I thought that maybe Reece goes with the water polo team for England because right now he trains in the pool,” he shared this during his Southampton pre-match press.

“So I was a bit surprised, but I understood that he was selected for the football team. So this will not happen because Reece is training in the pool right now.”

Mason Mount

Mason Mount hasn’t been available for some games now due to an injury. The good news is that he will be available for the blues match against Southampton.

Here’s what Chelsea head coach had to say about mount:

“For Mason [Mount] is in the squad, he’s back, it was not a long injury, a minor injury,” Tuchel confirmed.

“We’re happy that he’s back and it’s obviously a given that he’s nominated. He’s happy to be nominated and will give everything to do his best for the England squad.

“We need to be careful. We took him out at halftime [against Spurs] because had a bit of a rough half and everybody was so high on us in the second half when he was not on the pitch.”
