Alphonse Areola might replace Fabianski in West Ham due to his Man Utd master class.

Alphonse Areola finally made his West Ham debut last night since his move from Paris Saint-Germain.

When asked if his performance showed he was ready and willing to fight for the  No.1 spot, Areola said “he felt the show was about the team more than his own ambitions”.

“I am proud of my performance. Tonight, we need to be happy that we won against such a big and powerful team. We must maintain that attitude and continue to use the win against the big, big team as a benchmark and to show that our team is working hard for something.”

“For me, I believe we can go far at every competition. The team was changed by the gaffer and we all responded well. Everyone can participate in that team, perform, and help the other members.

“After the Sunday game we were a bit disappointed, but we tried our best to keep our heads up. “That was what we did. We are happy that we won.

West Ham next EFL game is with Manchester City. Manchester City has a good record and haven’t lost in this competition since October 2016. Areola says he understands what it means to face Pep Guardianiola’s team but he believes his teammates are capable.
